Letter to Parents

August 1, 2002
A Brand New School Year
Dear Parents and Guardians,

I would like to take a second a say hello to all the new families that will become a part of our school family this year. I would also like to say welcome back to all our returning families.  I think this year is going to be one of the best we have ever had at Faultless Elementary.
I want to take a moment to take inform all of you about what has been happening at the school since last year. As I am sure many of you know our test scores on the ISTEP last year were below the requirement set be the school corporation. Because of the corporations desire to meet the standards set by both the School corporation and the No Child Left behind act they have made substantial investments in our school.  Through both State and Federal grants we have been able to purchase additional computers for every classroom as well as IPads for the 4th through 6th grade classrooms. I have set aside a small portion of the grant money for each teacher to purchase new supplies and books for their classrooms based on the needs each teacher has presented to me.  We were also able to add staff that specializes in literacy to enhance the curriculum already in place. I have no doubt that with these additions of technology, materials, and staff we will have great improvements to your children’s learning and our schools overall test scores.
Once again I want to say welcome and see you all real soon.

Connie Thomas
Principal

In this letter I wanted to show the positive side of NCLB. I wanted people to know that not all bad has come from the act. A lot of improvements have been made to schools because of funding that has become available directly and indirectly from the policies put in place to attempt to conform to the requirements of the NCLB act.
